m&m, or as Hunter calls her "mel-em-mel-em"

So yesterday, Emily took a spill onto a tile floor and stopped the fall with her face instead of her hands (purely accidental). Lucky for her front teeth, her bottom lip and nose took the brunt of the blow. I was not there for the clean-up but I hear that the amount of blood that can come from such a small nose and a little lip is pretty amazing! We never did get her nose to completely stop bleeding before she went to bed several hours later. She was also complaining about her front teeth hurting so we took her to the dentist where she was x-ray'ed and given a clean bill of dental health. We wanted to take some photos but she said she didn't want any taken because she didn't "look pretty". She said she felt like her Nana (who busted her nose and blackened two eyes by accidentally walking into a pole in Target). Poor little m&m. She actually looks much better today - kids heal so fast.

Emily also recently learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. I've attached a video demonstrating her mad skills.

Ok, I have gotten emails from friends saying that their comments aren't showing up. I think that I've fixed the problem. So, someone leave me a comment so I can make sure!

Christmas

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We spent our's here in Texas. On Christmas Eve morning we read Luke 2 while the kids acted out the nativity story. Curren was so cute. He wanted to look just like one of the figures in our nativity set that was on the mantle! Hunter, who was a shepherd, was wandering around (looking for sheep?) and wouldn't get in the picture.
We met up with friends we made while we were in Delaware that day, too. We had lunch at Macaroni Grill. Four parents, four kids, and two babies. It was fun visiting with them and the kids had a blast coloring on the paper tablecloth and both babies slept the entire time! We don't live that far from each other, but we don't see them very often.
That night we had an amazing dinner with friends in our ward. She is great cook and everything she makes is delicious! There were lots of kids so we thought it would be fun to act out the nativity. They loved getting dressed up. Porter was sleeping, so he was a peaceful baby Jesus.
I love this time of year. It's so fun to have Christmas with children!

Fun stuff

First I have to say that we have the cleanest, biggest Wal-Mart Super Center in Texas! I love, love, love that place. The last time I was there I bought two things that I have to tell about. Have you tried the mint truffle Hershey's kisses? They are SO yummy! The second thing is Nicole nail polish. It's made by OPI, which is usually $9 a bottle at Sally. Nicole polish is really good--it goes on well and stays chip free for over a week on my toes! They also have lots of pretty pink shades. While I was painting Emily's toes yesterday our little neighbor Avery came over, so we did hers, too.

By the way, I LOVE every one's Christmas cards! There are so many super creative ones and it's so fun to see pictures of all the kids and get the annual updates, too. Keep them coming! We don't care if they're late!

I'm back!

It's been a while since I have posted anything new...but I'm feeling good and this weekend was a busy one. It's hard to stay home when so many fun things are happening this time of year! We went to the stake baptism in the morning and then over to our friends' house for an open house they had for their daughter's baptism. Then James took the three "big" kids to see a movie with a couple of the other dads. Then Porter and I headed up to the Dallas Galleria with a friend to pick up a couple of Christmas presents. It was a cold, windy day so I think everyone in the metroplex was shopping there! It took us almost 45 minutes to get from the freeway exit to our parking spot. But, we had fun talking and Porter was such a good baby!
Last night was our ward Christmas party. It was good to see everyone again. I haven't been out much for the past few weeks, so it was fun to catch up with friends. The food was delicious and the program was nice. I think our kids would have to say that their favorite part was seeing Santa and eating their candy canes!

Christmas card pictures

A couple of nights ago we tried to get a picture of all four kids for our annual Christmas card. This is one of the funnier shots. Notice that Hunter is not even in the picture. He was wandering around and driving James crazy! He is 20 months old and it's impossible to get a picture of him standing or sitting still. We did get ONE of all of them, so that is the one we will use!

Emily in the Nutcracker

This was Emily's debut as a ballerina. She was a cherub in The Nutcracker. We got a babysitter for Hunter and we took Curren and Porter out to eat before the big show. The show was really good (there were also professional dancers in the production in addition to students). Emily was adorable and she had such a good time rehearsing and being a part of the whole show. Thanks to good friends who were willing to take her to the theatre, pick up new tights, etc, she was able to participate, since I wasn't able to do much this week! It was fun putting make-up on her and seeing her so excited about performing.
