Open House

Last week we went to the open house at Museum School. Emily was so excited to have all of us see her classroom and all the cool things she has been learning about. What a fun night! We got to see some amphibians, talk to her teachers, have dinner, play in the kids' section of the museum, watch a show in the portable planetarium, and best of all, sing and dance with Mr. Bill. That guy was awesome. I guess he is a local "celebrity" since he has cd's for sale at Barnes & Noble. Curren was jealous that Emily's school was so fun. The metroplex (Dallas-Ft. Worth) is so full of great places, and the museums, zoos, aquarium, botanical gardens, theatres, etc are awesome! We love it here!Posted by Lori Ellsworth at 8:21 PM 4 comments

Red Hots
A gal in our ward was putting together an indoor soccer team and I told her that I would think about doing it, since I am trying to shed baby weight. I decided to do it, and it has been tons of fun and a great workout, too. There are about 12 of us and we range in age from about 24-40 years. These ladies are so tough and so are the teams we play. We lost our first game, but last night we won 8-0 and I even scored! It was so fun! We're the Red Hots and last night as I was putting on my shin guards and getting ready to go (we play at 9pm, after the kids are in bed), Curren (who was sleeping in our bed until Hunter settled down) saw me with my red shirt on and said, "YOU play soccer?" He was so impressed. He was asking me all about it and this morning he gave me high fives for scoring. I guess he has a new respect for me now that he thinks I am an athlete.

Severe storm
On Wednesday there was a really bad storm here. At 3:30am Curren woke up screaming as soon as the first clap of thunder roared outside. There was so much wind (at least 60mph!!), rain, and hail. I thought for sure that the tornado sirens would go off. James ran downstairs to check the tv to see if we should get in our coat closet downstairs, but it was just a tornado watch. So, we rode out the storm in our bed, with Curren, as we felt the walls shake and listened to the rain pound against the windows. It was the worst storm we've had since we moved here a year and a half ago.
Our friends that live about 3 miles from us had their fences blown over, the air conditioners moved off of the cement pad, and their neighbor's trampoline in their back yard. It was a wild night in north Texas!

Spring Cleaning
While my mom was here, I got a new labeler (my old one died) and went to town. James helped me take everything out of the kitchen cabinets and then put it back neatly and then I labeled where everything goes. I love the way it looks. (This was done a lot like 5S, Mary!) This lead to cleaning out closets, so I decided back in February to have a garage sale. So, I started stacking stuff in our master bedroom that I wanted to sell. This included all of Emily's baby clothes, since we are done having babies. I had my garage sale a couple of weeks ago and made over $300!! I was so excited! My goal was $100. It was a cold, damp morning so the kids sold hot cocoa and Rice Krispie treats, as well as bottled water. James couldn't believe I was so successful. So, I just need to take the left overs to the Goodwill. There isn't much left, because at the very end, a lady came up and said "I'll take all the girl clothes you have left for $10." I thought for a minute and said, "How about $12?" Deal. It felt good to get rid of stuff and make some money.
Now, how am I going to spend it? Well, the original plan was to buy another full size bed, but then I decided that we should use at least some of it for food storage. Emily and I are going to have a girls' night out tonight, and then I'll save the rest.

General Conference

This weekend was General Conference so we were able to watch "church on tv". I look forward to it each April and October. As always, there were wonderful talks and beautiful music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Sunday morning we printed out packets for the kids to work on while we watched (Thanks, Heidi!). They did church word searches, colored the ties on the apostles, etc. Then, between sessions we had lunch with friends. Lots of good food! The kids had lots of fun with their friends in the big backyard. This family also has an awsome playhouse that Emily and Curren love to play in whenever we are over there. We ended up staying over to watch the second session with everyone. It was a warm, sunny day so we watched on the tv on the patio with surround sound. What a way to watch conference!
