Park City

Yesterday we met friends in Park City to see a Lego sculpture exhibit at the Kimball Art Center. Curren and Max were in heaven! It was amazing to see all that was made using these tiny bricks; 3-D sculptures like apples, a big pencil, and a tree, as well as portraits. It was a cold, wet afternoon (it hailed!), so we packed up the kids and drove to Cold Stone for a treat and walked around the shopping center and browsed in a fun toy store before heading home to get ready for the ward trunk-or-treat.

Hogle Zoo

The little boys and I went to the zoo with friends last week and had so much fun! We got to see a baby elephant, a baby giraffe. The boys loved the train, too. We got a membership so we can go back.

Pumpkin Patch

We had a fun day with cousins! We met for lunch at Arctic Circle and then went to a fun pumpkin patch where the kids rode a pony, played in a corn bin, played with a corn canon, went down slides, and we all went on a hayride. We love fall!

Emily, age 6

This is the annual picture we take of Emily in my wedding dress. This year she wanted to try on the veil, too. (It was meant to go around a bun.) I think she looks pretty and she had lots of fun. Then she wanted me to try it on! I was a little nervous that it wouldn't even zip up, but it still fits.

11

Friday was our anniversary! We celebrated by getting a babysitter and going out for dinner. We tried Settobello for the first time. It was just as good as everyone said it would be. It was fun to be in downtown Salt Lake and have dinner all by ourselves! The food was incredible and our server was great. We will definitely go again. I love you, James.

Pedi's

The last time I went out for a pedicure, Emily was disappointed that I didn't take her with me. So, I took her last night and she had a ball! They gave her the full spa treatment and she kept giggling because her feet are ticklish. Funny girl. We sipped our waters and watched tv while we were pampered. Emily chose sparkly orange and got pumpkin stickers on her big toes. It's so fun to have a little girl to do fun things with, and we love to have a "girls night out".

Halloween cookies

Each year we make sugar cookies to put on plates with Halloween candy and we put them on a few neighbors' porches along with a poem about a Halloween "phantom". Then we ring their door bell and run. Then they are supposed to do the same for two other families. We hope it works in this neighborhood as well as it did in Hidden Lakes!

Training Table

It's fall break and to kick off the fun long weekend we met James for lunch at the Training Table. They are famous for their cheese fries, which the kids loved. Curren asked if we could eat there everyday! They thought it was so fun to place our order by phone.

Peaches

James' grandparents have fruit trees in their backyard and this year there were tons of delicious peaches! Our family loves peaches. The kids had so much fun picking them and then James helped me can several jars so we can make cobblers and smoothies this winter. Yet another thing we love about Utah.

Sunday dinner in Mapleton Canyon

Most Sunday dinners are at Falene and Jearl's, but one week we all thought it would be nice to eat outside. We all brought things to make Cafe Rio salads and they were so yummy! For dessert I brought Twix bars and Mikel made Scotcheroos. Sunday dinners with family are the best!

Hike to the Y

All along the Wasatch front there are letters on the sides of the mountains, which indicate a high school/university below it. My kids love pointing them out as we drive up and down I-15. So, one day we decided we would take them on a hike up to the Y, above Provo. (That's all of us actually sitting on the famous Y.) It is less than a mile up, but oh boy is it steep!! The kids were troopers. Emily (who is usually the one with the best endurance) cried and wanted to give up, but with some motivational talks and lots of rest stops, she, as well as the rest of us, made it to the top! There is a great view, and we felt like we had accomplished something together.

Then we met up with the Given's for pizza at the Brick Oven. I so totally love their homemade rootbeer and pepperoni pizza. I would drive down there anyday for that combination! You've also got to love a resturant that has huge tables and an endless supply of high chairs. And the staff doesn't give you evil looks when you come in with 7 kids all under 8 years old. Living in Utah has it's advantages.
