Emily's Tanner Dance Informance

We are so lucky to have a school that has a variety of programs in the arts! Tanner Dance is something we all look forward to. The second graders did a great job dancing like periods, commas, and exclamation points! Towards the end, Emily tripped and then someone fell on top of her. She got up and tried to keep dancing but couldn't stop the tears. She was so sad and embarrassed, the poor thing. Mrs. Clark was hugging her when I made it to the hall. She came and sat with us for the rest of the show. All the parents told her what a big girl she was to get back up and keep dancing. That afternoon Emily's friend Kailey brought her flowers. Sooo sweet of her!!

Airborne

We have been lucky to have lots of random days off from school this year. One day we spent an hour jumping on the trampolines at a new place called Airborne. All of us had a blast! It's harder than it looks to jump onto a tramp against the wall. Curren and James could, though! Porter and Hunter and I played in the little kids area and jumped into the foam pit. This place was great and we had fun getting all the wiggles out, too.

Sleepy boy

I just have to include this picture of my sweet boy, sleeping on my bed. He was watching Car's Toons (which he watches every day) and fell asleep while I did homework with the big kids.

Second Grade Field Trip

Isn't half the fun of going on a field trip riding the bus? It is if you usually walk to school! I got to go with Emily and her class to the Children's Theatre downtown. We saw an adaptation of Ferdinand. We love that story and it was fun to be with Emily and her darling friends. Lauren, Emily, and I sat together on the bus and Sophie and Anne were in our group, too. The show was great and I'm glad I could spend the morning with my favorite little girl!

Marshmallows

All winter long we have been enjoying fires in our fireplace during Family Home Evening. You have to have some fun in the winter when you are stuck indoors for MONTHS, so I picked up a bag of giant Campfire marshmallows at the grocery store. They were yummy and got even bigger when they were roasted!

Valentine's Day

We have a tradition of making heart shaped cookies and decorating them with frosting and sprinkles. Then, if we don't eat all of them, we share them with our friends and neighbors! I love Valentine's Day. This year my little valentines got a kick ball set, a baseball tee (to use as soon as the snow melts), a new American Girl outfit, and Connect 4. I like a holiday that celebrates a value, almost as much as I love all the chocolate associated with it!

Circus of Books

It is so fun to go to the school and see all the work my kids have been doing. This time we got to go for the third grade's annual Circus of Books. Curren chose to do his project on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He wrote a letter to the author, JK Rowling, painted pictures of three characters, and we recorded a video of him pretending to be Harry. Thank goodness he was Harry Potter for Halloween! Curren has an awesome teacher. She really gets her students excited about learning and motivates them to do their best. Great work, Curren!
